Jan Fischer is co-founder and managing director of the Veolia Towers Hamburg Towers. Born and raised in the west of Hamburg, the 42-year-old played basketball himself as a teenager. Together with his friend, former national basketball player Marvin Willoughby, he founded the association “Sport ohne Grenzen” (Sport without Borders) while still a student in 2006, from which the Veolia Towers Hamburg Towers emerged in 2014.

The Veolia Towers Hamburg are much more than an ordinary basketball club: in 2006, the predecessor Sport ohne Grenzen e.V. was founded with the aim of getting young people involved in sports and creating sporting role models. Even after founding a professional division in 2013, entering the second division, advancing to the Basketball Bundesliga, through the playoffs to participation in the EuroCup, the Towers remain true to their core and continue to stand for commitment, community and determination. In order to underpin this path and establish strong structures in the long term, the next step now follows in 2022: With Veolia, the Towers gain a strong strategic partner who secures the naming rights to the professional division.
