Mari­et­ta Fuhrmann-Koch has led the Com­mu­ni­ca­tion and Mar­ket­ing Depart­ment at Hei­del­berg Uni­ver­si­ty since March 2009, hav­ing pre­vi­ous­ly held a sim­i­lar post at the Uni­ver­si­ty of Göt­tin­gen. This fol­lowed stud­ies in soci­ol­o­gy, Ger­man, and media stud­ies and jour­nal­ism train­ing, and 15 years work­ing for Deutsche Presse-Agen­tur. She also taught ter­tiary edu­ca­tion PR & mar­ket­ing for 10 semes­ters in Göt­tin­gen University’s Media Stud­ies depart­ment.
