Mareike Winter, born in 1981, has been responsible for communications at Ensemble MusikFabrik since 2010. After studying English, German and sociology, she learnt her trade at TelevisorTroika, a PR agency specialising in cultural projects. She was initially responsible for developing the ensemble’s online communication; since 2011 she has been in charge of public relations for this important ensemble specialising in new music.

Ever since its formation in 1990, Ensemble MusikFabrik has been regarded as one of the leading ensembles for contemporary music. In keeping with its name (‘Music Factory’), Ensemble MusikFabrik is particularly dedicated to artistic innovation. New, unknown works in unusual media and often specifically commissioned by the ensemble are its area of operation. The results of this work, often performed in close cooperation with the composers, are presented by the Cologne-based international soloist-ensemble in around 100 concerts a year in Germany and abroad, at festivals, via their own broadcast series MusikFabrik im WDR and in other regular broadcasts and CD releases. They have their own CD series on the WERGO label, “Edition MusikFabrik”, and their first CD “Sprechgesänge” was awarded the ECHO Klassik prize in 2011.
