Peter Vetter studied design in Zurich and Milan. His first employment experience was with GÉrÂard MieÂdinÂger, JoÂsef Müller-Brockmann and TomÃ¡s MalÂdoÂnado. During his career he has worked in Italy, Germany, Japan and the USA for high-profile, mainly international clients. He created his own design studio in Italy (Bit S.r.l., later BBV), and then joined Zintzmeyer und Lux AG (now Interbrand) as a partner and creative director, then Vignelli Associates in New York as executive vice-president. He teaches (BA, MA) and is director of studies for visual communication in the design department at Zurich University of the Arts and at SUPSI in Lugano , and a guest lecturer at several universities in Switzerland and abroad, including SUPSI/DACD in Lugano, Basel, Bern, Geneva and the IFZ in Zug. He has been president of Design Network Switzerland, is a founder-member and vice-president of the Swiss Graphic Design Foundation, president of the jury for the assessment of business reports, along with several other national and international awards juries.

Coande operates with a small and well-coordinated team, supplemented by selected specialists from a trusted network, hand-picked to suit the specific characteristics and requirements of each project. This efficient network includes specialist consultants (strategy, law, text, research, etc.), along with a number of agencies used for implementation (print, template, internet, etc.). For the Italian market (see project list), Coande works in conjunction with two Milan-based partner studios: Priori & C and DA Centro per il disegno ambientale), under the epithet D/C/P. Coande generally works with clients on a medium- or long-term basis. This provides the conditions within which a working relationship can develop the kind of understanding necessary for an atmosphere of trust to develop, allowing mutually-beneficial long-term solutions to be developed.
